LA Day 2

On day 2 we started off with breakfast from Tart(Restaurant attached to our hotel, You can see it in the pic of the hotel in LA day 1 post) I had 3 of massivest pancakes i have ever had, i struggled to finish them. They were tasty tho!

We caught the big red sightseeing bus to have a look at the sights of LA. The buses were open top old english style busses, It was a nice and sunny day but the wind was freezing! The bus took us around the sights of hollywood first. We went past most of the big film and tv lots that are in the Hollywood area including CBS, Paramount, Nickelodeon. The tour also took us down melrose Ave, Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Blvd, Sunset Blvd and Santa Monica Blvd. Everything looked just like it does in the movies(Funny that!)

Kodak Theater Fail!

We also did the Stars Homes tour. Most of the houses were retardedly big! Especially the Spelling mansion. I took heaps of pics of the houses but i don't remember whose house was whose. The tour also too us up on the hollywood hill to see the sign and the views of the city. Some development group wanted to knock the hollywood sign down and build houses. While we were in LA was the dead line for $us12.5m to be raised to save it and out all all the people to save it, it was Hugh Hefner with a whopping $900000 donation!

Looking back across the city. That's the hollywood bowl on the bottom right and downtown LA is off in the distance in the middle.

After the tour of the stars homes we caught the big red bus again but this time down to Santa Monica Pier. The pier was very very busy, people everywhere! We didn't have time to walk up to Venice beach because we ran out time.

Los Angeles Day 1

On our way to canada we had a few days in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. I have been to both places before but as a kid and i don't really remember much except for one horrifying sight. We were staying at the Holiday Inn Hollywood and as we arrived at the hotel and there was a rather large lady covered in tats and had a giant beard! We later found out that the Holiday Inn was hosting the Biker Tattoo and Piercing convention.

This time was much better. The drive from the airport to our hotel was quite interesting on several fronts, It was my first time ever driving on the wrong side of the road(Driving on the right) and some of the random suburbs the GPS took us through. Little Ethiopia was one of the more interesting ones. But nothing was mega bad.

Our hotel was in west hollywood which is fairly close to all the action. The hotel was called Farmers Daughter. It use to be an old dirty apartment black but they have made it into a funky boutique motel. It was walking distance from Melrose Ave where they had awesome stores including RVCA, Supreme, Crooks & Castles, DC, Kid Robot, Atticus. I picked up some nice new shirts for WAY less than you would pay in aus.

Spray paint/paint pen tagging has been taken over by sticker tagging in LA.

On our first night in LA we went for a stroll down Hollywood Blvd to see the sights and sounds. It was just as cheesy and kitsch as you would expect. Megan found an awesome little Italian restaurant called Miceli's. It has been used in quite a few movies like knocked up. The food was great(Best we had the whole time we were in the States) but HUGE. I got the Chicken parma which came with a side of spaghetti the size of a normal serving in aus. The decor was really cool, every bottle of Chianti wine they sold they kept and the buyer of the bottle got to write stuff on it, then they hung it from the roof.
